I’m a late bloomer to beauty products so there are quite a number of brands I’m trying out for the first time. This includes Jouer Long-Wear Lip Crème Liquid Lipsticks which are the first items I’m trying from this brand. The colour range and packaging caught my attention right from the beginning. Such beautiful and wearable shades! Wanted to get these from Jouer site but the exorbitant shipping fee US$37.50 for a couple of lip crèmes didn’t make sense. I was glad Jouer is also available on Cult Beauty where the int’l shipping fees is more palatable. They offer free shipping worldwide for order over ₤50. After deduction of UK sales tax, got these babies at ₤11.67 each. Not bad eh? Wanted to get 2 colours to try but I just couldn’t get the metallic one out of my head. I always have a soft spot for metallics and shimmers. Here are the 3 shades I got:
Wearing Papaye by itself might be a shimmer overkill or probably end up looking like a cyborg. I'm thinking of mixing it with the other shades by topping it on the centre of the lips or just experiment with an ombre lip colour. The formulation is described as weightless, non-drying, long-wearing and smudge-proof. Here’s my take on these lip crèmes: Packaging is stunning. Feels and look luxurious. All good except the cap. Would have prefer more cap space for better grip during application. Applying liquid lipstick is almost like putting on eyeliner… Precision is key and I need all the help I can get 😝 Jouer is also known for its innovative packaging that allows you to assemble their products together lego-style, into a customized kit. This is made possible by the tracks built into each of their product packaging. This is such an ingenious idea!! However, if I’m not mistaken, this works only if you assemble different makeup items together like a powder, eye shadow, blusher and a lip product in a kit. You won’t be able to do that if you want to put together say 3 lip crèmes, which I thought is a pity. You know, it’s no longer enough to just pack just one lipstick to go nowadays. The lip crème has a pleasant vanilla scent and a thick mousse-like texture (unlike ColourPop which is more liquidy). It is pretty true to the product description. It is pigmented and transfer-proof. It’s generally long wearing except after a meal when I'll notice the colour fades on the inner lips. No biggie, I’m fine with doing a little touch-up at mid-day after lunch. Is it drying? Hmm, I hate to say that it is slightly more drying on my lips compared to my other liquid lipsticks from Jeffree Star and Kat von D. Overall, I do enjoy Jouer Lip Cremes and would have been perfect if it’s a tad less drying for me. I read other reviews that these are non-drying for them which can be due to how the formulation reacts with different skin. It's possible that the product performs differently across different skin types. You know, I’m always swooning over close-ups liquid lipstick swatches where all of them looks so supple and perfect. I’m quite prone to having lines showing on mine towards end of the day or after wearing liquid lipstick a few days in a row. Can someone pls spill the secrets behind those plump luscious lips? Thanks for reading as always! ☺
