Been cracking my head over what’s my first blog going to be about and finally settled on my latest addition of eyeshadow palette - Zoeva Cocoa Blend Eyeshadow Palette! Zoeva is relatively more known for their brushes and I've been impressed by their makeup brush collection. Beautiful, great quality and of course their reasonable price points. Never tried out their makeup line before but it took little persuasion to nudge myself to add item to cart. What took me a while to decide was basically 2 things: First, En Taupe or Cocoa Blend palette? Second, where can I get this little gem without paying an arm or leg (Zoeva charges a flat fee of US$16 for shipping to my location). Fortunately, the local Sephora site offers this and what I paid is slightly more than the price on Zoeva site which still within acceptable range. There are 10 chocolate-inspired powder eyeshadows in rich warm tones - 2 light, 2 medium, 4 medium-dark and 2 dark shades; in a mix of finishes (Matte, Satin, Metallic, Duo Chrome, Pearl , Matte with Glitter). Verdict in short, it’s a great palette and Zoeva didn't let me down. Phew!
Beautiful wearable shades in nice mix of finishes offers flexibility to take you from day to night looks. There is no paraben which is a great bonus point. True to the product claims on Zoeva website, the eye shadows have great colour payoff and easy to blend. Nice sleek cardboard-based packaging. Along with the printed pattern is actually reminiscent of a chocolate bar. There is no mirror which doesn't bother me. My only teeny weeny gripe is the shade that is supposed to be in Duo Chrome finish - whichever shade that is. I wouldn't have known that there is one in Duo Chrome finish by swatching the colors. What I'm trying to say is that the duo chrome finish is too subtle! I thought Delicate Acidity is in duo chrome finish but I've read in other blogs where Sweeter End is described in Duo Chrome (but I thought it was more metallic instead). I'm confused but no biggie - it's still a good palette overall. Now, I'm eager to try out other Zoeva palettes. Mixed Metal, Smoky or Warm Spectrum palette maybe? My fave shades of the lot are Warm Notes, Delicate Acidity and Subtle Blend. I think the first 2 shades give the palette a nice twist since they are not your usual chocolate-inspired browns and bronzes. Yays:
