I'm always on a hunt for good products especially those that won't burn a hole in my pocket. Kiko is one of those brands that fall in that category and took my breathe away not just because of how affordable their price points are but also with their vast product range and color offerings.
My only pain point with Kiko is the lack of retail or eCommerce coverage in Asia. According to their website, their only presence in Asia is a brick and mortar store in Hong Kong. Their eCommerce seems well-established but it's a pity they don't offer international shipping. I chanced upon their store during my Spain holiday a few years ago. Unfortunately, I didn't know much about them so I didn't pick up too many of their products back then. Otherwise I would have gone crazy in the store. It was only after the trip, I heard more about them from beauty bloggers. Darn... I missed the opportunity! It was only recently I managed to place an online haul and had that delivered to a a friend who happened to be back in Europe for a home visit. One of the items I got was their Universal Fit Hydrating Foundation. I first heard about this product from beauty blogger Lily Pebbles and was eager to try. To add, it's only Euro 5.90! Adding this to my shopping cart is a no-brainer BUT choosing the right shade was quite a challenge! There are 21 shades to choose from! Here's a quick breakdown of the shades:
There is no store that I can just walk in and swatch my heart out so I had to turn to online swatches and reviews by other beauty bloggers to make call. This is one of those times I wish there a simple selection of Fair, Light, Medium, Tan and Dark. Anyway, I went with Warm Beige 40 and was so glad, my homework paid off after all. It was a close enough match! The product literature that came with the foundation describes it as ideal for all skin types. Formula is enriched with a mixture of active ingredients such as aloe vera extract for its hydrating properties, Vitamin E with an anti-oxidant action, multi-functional plant complex that helps soften and hydrate skin. Overall I'm quite happy with the foundation. Would repurchase it but alas! there was no SPF :( YAYS
MEHS
If there is another opportunity for me to do another Kiko haul, I would love to try out other foundations with SPF. I'm intrigued by other Kiko foundation especially those with interesting names/ properties like 3D Lifting, Mat Mousse and Anti-aging. I also noticed the range of colour selection for each foundation varies. I wonder why doesn't Kiko standardize their foundation color range. This means I have to search for online swatches again. Time consuming and more effort required but I think I'll gladly go through that cycle again for the love of makeup :)
